Officer of the Month, June - Sergeant Donald D''Aiuto

Sergeant D’Aiuto has been a police officer since January of 1997. He has always been an officer that leads by example. He has been an evidence technician for much of his career and the Forensic Unit Supervisor for over six years. His quality of work, attention to detail and acquired expertise is an example to any officer who desires to be looked at as a leader. He has trained many officers in proper procedure and techniques for the gathering and documentation of evidence. His ability to testify at hearings and trials has led to the successful prosecution of many violent offenders. He has continuously looked for technologies and current best practices to keep this department current. He takes great pride in his work, but never seeks attention. His personal and professional satisfaction has always come from seeing the success of his work. Sergeant D’Aiuto is also an outstanding police trainer. He has taught numerous officers proper procedure, best practices as well as officer safety techniques involving police response to active shooters and building searches. During his career he has participated on numerous warrant executions and searches for violent suspects as a member of the department’s Special Response Team. He has also been involved as a Field Training Officer, Patrol Sergeant, Crime Prevention Officer and Bike Patrol Unit. For the past few months, he has been preparing his replacement.  The department’s administration feels that his continued attention to duty is deserving of this recognition.
