Rome Police Conduct Sex Offender Residence Check

On Tuesday, October 2nd, Rome Police conducted a sex offender residence check. Teams of officers went to several residences in the inside district and confirmed that registered offenders are complying with New York State mandated requirements. Sixty addresses were confirmed by investigation. One investigation in to possible violations is ongoing. The Rome Police Departments Sex Offender Management Unit was assisted by members of the Oneida County Sheriffs Office and Oneida County Child Advocacy Center.  The department conducts these efforts twice a year as well as checking individual offenders when they enter the jurisdiction, on random occasions or in response to a complaint from the public.  Anyone with questions or concerns regarding sex offenders in the community can contact the Sex Offender Management Unit at 315-339-7715.
