Nicolaus Schreppel Named Officer of the Month - July

The Rome Police Department is pleased to announce that Police Officer Nicolaus Schreppel has been selected as the Officer of the Month - July. Officer Schreppel maintains a positive attitude and takes a proactive approach with his patrol duties. His proactive approach and attention to detail was displayed twice, during two separate incidents in the month of July.

While responding to a report of a larceny from a local business on E. Dominick St., he observed a person matching the description of the suspect. Officer Schreppel attempted to apprehend this suspect, but he fled as Schreppel approached. The suspect first fled on a bicycle and then on foot. Schreppel eventually apprehended the suspect several blocks away. The suspect had two warrants issued by Rome City Court and was in possession of stolen property from this incident.

In the second incident, Officer Schreppel was patroling his assigned zone when he observed an individual riding a bicycle. This bicycle matched the description of one that had been recently been reported stolen two weeks earlier. As a result of his attention to duty, the stolen bike, valued at over two thousand dollars was recovered and returned to the owner.

Officer Schreppels dedication and attention to duty brings great credit to himself and the Rome Police Department, and is worthy of this recognition.

Officer Schreppel joined the Rome Police Dept. in June of 2015.
